Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing administrative and clinical support to healthcare professionals, ensuring the smooth operation of our medical practice and the delivery of high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care: Assist healthcare providers in examining and treating patients, including measuring vital signs, height, weight, and recording patient history.
- Medical Procedures: Perform basic medical procedures and treatments under the supervision of licensed healthcare providers, such as administering injections, collecting specimens, and conducting simple lab tests.
- Patient Education: Provide patients with information about their conditions, treatments, medications, and preventive care measures, ensuring they understand their healthcare plans.
- Medical Records: Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic medical records (EMR), including patient demographics, medical history, test results, and treatment plans.
- Appointment Scheduling: Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and procedures, coordinating with patients, healthcare providers, and other staff members.
- Billing and Coding: Assist with medical billing and coding tasks, including verifying insurance coverage, collecting co-payments, and submitting claims to insurance companies.
- Inventory Management: Manage medical supplies and equipment, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining inventory levels.
- Sterilization: Ensure proper sterilization and disinfection of medical instruments and equipment following established protocols.
- Quality Assurance: Assist with quality assurance activities, such as monitoring and documenting patient outcomes, medication administration, and infection control practices.
- Compliance: Adhere to healthcare regulations, privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA), and organizational policies and procedures to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a medical assistant program from an accredited institution preferred.
- Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification required.
- Experience: Previous experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in computer applications and EMR systems.
- Compassion: Empathy and sensitivity towards patients’ needs and concerns.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with healthcare providers, patients, and other staff members in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in completing tasks.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing job responsibilities and priorities.
