Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Dental Assistant to join our dental team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a vital role in assisting dentists and hygienists in providing high-quality dental care to our patients. You will perform various clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring the smooth operation of our dental practice and the comfort and safety of our patients.

Responsibilities:

  1. Chairside Assistance: Assist dentists and hygienists during dental procedures, including preparing treatment rooms, seating patients, and passing instruments and materials.
  2. Patient Care: Take and record patients’ medical and dental histories, blood pressure, and vital signs, and provide chairside assistance during dental treatments, procedures, and surgeries.
  3. Instrument Sterilization: Sterilize and disinfect dental instruments and equipment following established infection control protocols and guidelines.
  4. Radiography: Take dental radiographs (X-rays) and process and mount them for interpretation by the dentist, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
  5. Patient Education: Educate patients about oral hygiene, dental procedures, postoperative care instructions, and preventive dental care measures to promote optimal oral health.
  6. Administrative Tasks: Schedule patient appointments, manage patient records, update medical histories, verify insurance coverage, and process billing and payments using dental software.
  7. Supply Management: Maintain dental supplies and inventory, order and stock supplies as needed, and ensure the cleanliness and organization of treatment rooms and equipment.
  8. Laboratory Work: Pour, trim, and polish dental casts and fabricate custom trays, appliances, and models as directed by the dentist or laboratory technician.
  9. Emergency Response: Assist with emergency dental procedures, providing immediate chairside support and comfort to patients experiencing dental emergencies.
  10. Compliance: Adhere to regulatory requirements, safety protocols, infection control standards, and HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and compliance with legal requirements.

Qualifications:

  1. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a dental assisting program from an accredited institution preferred.
  2. Certification: Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) certification or Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification preferred.
  3. Radiography Certification: Dental radiography certification required (if applicable based on state regulations).
  4. Experience: Previous experience working as a dental assistant in a dental office or healthcare setting preferred, but entry-level candidates are welcome to apply.
  5. Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Proficiency in dental terminology, procedures, and dental software.
  6. Compassion: Genuine empathy and compassion for patients’ dental needs and concerns.
  7. Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with dentists, hygienists, and other dental team members in a fast-paced environment.
  8. Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing job responsibilities and priorities, including working evenings or weekends as needed.
  9. Ethics: Commitment to ethical principles, professionalism, and patient confidentiality in all interactions.
