Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate physical therapy assistant to join our team. As a physical therapy assistant, you will work under the supervision of licensed physical therapists to help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and surgeries. You will assist with implementing treatment plans, conducting therapeutic exercises, and providing support to patients throughout their rehabilitation process.
Responsibilities:
- Patient Care:
- Assist physical therapists in evaluating patients’ conditions and developing individualized treatment plans.
- Provide hands-on assistance and guidance to patients during therapeutic exercises and activities.
- Monitor patients’ progress and report any changes or concerns to the supervising physical therapist.
- Instruct patients and their families on proper techniques for exercises and activities to be performed at home.
- Therapeutic Modalities:
- Administer therapeutic modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, and electrical stimulation as directed by the physical therapist.
- Set up and operate therapeutic equipment and devices.
- Ensure the safe and effective use of modalities and equipment by patients.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including progress notes and treatment documentation.
- Assist in preparing reports and documentation for insurance purposes and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Patient Education:
- Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, body mechanics, and activities of daily living.
- Provide information on adaptive equipment and assistive devices to improve mobility and independence.
- Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate with physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) program from an accredited institution.
- Valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapy Assistant.
- CPR certification.
- Strong knowledge of physical therapy principles and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care.
- Ability to work well within a team and independently.
- Prior experience in a physical therapy setting preferred but not required.
